Institute of Modern Machinery
1. Team Profile
The Institute of Modern Machinery, affiliated with the School of Mechatronical Engineering of Harbin Engineering University, was founded in 1990, and formerly known as the Mechanical Fundamentals Teaching and Research Center. The technical team is composed of backbone teachers in the field of mechanical design and theory as the core. The research group currently has 11 teachers, including 3 professors, 1 senior engineer, 3 associate professors, 2 lecturers, and 1 experimenter. There are more than thirty sets of experimental equipment available, including a low-speed sliding bearing lubrication test bench, a high-speed sliding bearing lubrication test bench, a rolling bearing lubrication test bench, a gear lubrication test bench, and a friction torque tester, which is self-designed. These equipments can analyze and test speed, load, the pressure and temperature of the oil film or oil gas mixed lubrication.
2. Fundamentals of Scientific Research
The Institute of Modern Mechanical Drive System Technique, affiliated with the School of Mechatronical Engineering of Harbin Engineering University has undergone more than 20 years of development, especially over 10 years during the 12th and 13th Five Year Plans. It has initially established a focus on ship and ocean engineering needs, while also serving fields such as mechanical equipment manufacturing. Research directions mainly include multiphase lubrication technology, surface coating modification technology for mechanical components, mechanics, marine renewable energy development, ship deck machinery, etc. The team has successively undertaken key projects of the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key R&D Program, the National Marine Energy Special Project, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology High tech Ship Project. It has also undertaken projects such as the "Eighth Five Year Plan", "Ninth Five Year Plan", "Fifteenth Five Year Plan", and "Eleventh Five Year Plan" naval pre research projects.
3. Landmark Achievement
The Institute of Modern Mechanical Drive System Technique, affiliated with the School of Mechatronical Engineering of Harbin Engineering University, is one of the earliest institutions in China engaged in research in the field of shipbuilding and ocean engineering. It has conducted research on the design, preparation, and performance evaluation of ultra-light and high-strength deep-sea pipeline composite materials, as well as ship and underwater equipment such as moon pool float wave energy devices, all sea deep address winches, pile foundation vertical axis tidal current energy generation devices, and multiphase fluid lubricated sliding bearings, The technological achievements are at a leading domestic and international level.
4. Team Culture
The Institute of Modern Mechanical Transmission Technology of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Harbin Engineering University focuses on a sense of patriotism, with the fundamental task of cultivating virtue and talents. With the institute as the home, we are committed to cultivating high-quality talents and exploring innovative cutting-edge basic topics and engineering application technologies. Students in the research institute have received multiple awards and scholarships, as well as participated in domestic and international exchange activities. They possess profound scientific research literacy and a broad international perspective. Graduates work for important enterprises and institutions such as universities, research institutes, and large state-owned enterprises, providing scientific research and technical support for various industries in the country, especially emerging mechanical engineering technologies and products.
